M-A Hires Steve Yob as Head Coach of Girls Basketball

ATHERTON, CA — May 29, 2019 — Menlo-Atherton (M-A) High School Athletic Directors Paul Snow and Steven Kryger are proud to announce the hiring of Steve Yob as the new head coach of the varsity girls basketball team.

Yob is a Menlo-Atherton alum who was born and raised in Menlo Park. Yob has over 7 years of experience coaching at the high school level for basketball teams at Menlo-Atherton, Palo Alto and Woodside High Schools. A 2004 alumnus, Yob was a three year varsity starter at Menlo-Atherton, earning 1st team all-league honors and winning a league title. Besides his success in playing and coaching basketball, Yob has been a physical education teacher at La Entrada middle school in Menlo Park for the past five years mentoring young students and building relationships within the community.

Yob is excited and honored to take over the girls basketball program at Menlo-Atherton, stating, “I can’t wait to get started. It’s an honor to coach at my alma mater and give back to the school that I call home. I look forward to mentoring and coaching the players to not only be better basketball players, but also to be better teammates, student athletes and leaders.”
M-A’s Athletic Director Steven Kryger added, “We are very excited to welcome Coach Steve Yob back to Menlo-Atherton.  Steve was an outstanding student-athlete at M-A and did an outstanding job during his time as an assistant coach with the boys JV team. We look forward to the continued and future successes in the girls basketball program under his leadership.”
