News · State issues new guidelines for youth sports

The California Department of Public Health issued new guidelines for youth sports yesterday. The CIF and CCS will now meet and discuss what to do with these guidelines. Sports can not start until at least Jan. 25, 2021 now and can’t compete outside their own county (with the exception of competing against a bordering county in the same color tier or better). Given what the State released, it is widely believed that CIF will adjust the calendar again on when each sport will start. High contact sports like football and soccer could happen in the spring, low-contact sports like swimming, track, golf, badminton, and tennis could happen starting in January. All of this, of course, depends on getting the green light at the County and District level. We will post more information as it comes to us. Keep your fingers crossed that we’ll be able to compete this year. Our students deserve the opportunity!
